Lead Teacher

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Lead Teacher's role involves building a strong teaching team, organizing the curriculum, and overseeing the daily operations of the classroom. It is crucial for teachers to have a deep understanding of children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to create a safe and stimulating environment where children are motivated to thrive. Effective communication with both children and adults is essential for the Teacher to cater to the children's needs, provide guidance to teacher's aide, and address any concerns from parents.

8-hour shift

Monday-Friday

No Weekends

No Nights

PAY

​$18-$20/Hr. DOE

KEY RESPONSIBILITES & DUTIES

  1. Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices & early learning standards.

  2. Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.

  3. Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth.

  4. Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent- teacher conferences.

  5. Follow all the center policies and state regulations.

  6. Ensure a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.

  7. Supervise teachers assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene, and safety standards.

  8. Maintain accurate records, forms, and files for classroom.

  9. Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement/education.

  10. Contribute to the operation of the center by participating in staff meetings and training.

  11. Maintain confidentiality for all student information.

  12. Maintain a professional and approachable appearance.

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Minimum age of 21.

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and effective technology skills.

  • Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.

  • Arrive at work consistently and promptly when scheduled.

  • A strong understanding of child development.

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Current Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification. (Employer can assist to obtain within 30 days of employment.)

  • Must clear full background check

  • CDA or Associate Degree in ECE.

  • Submission of three (3) references
